I'm 30, and I'm ready to risk it all, here's why?

I’ve officially been 30 for three months, and whew, it has already been a whirlwind of changes. From my work life, to my personal life, to even the way my brain works, I feel different.

It’s crazy how different you can feel after hitting the big 3-0. I honestly feel older, wiser, and smarter. Now, am I actually? Maybe. 😂 Or maybe it’s all in my head because I’ve been conditioned to associate your 30s with maturity and wisdom.

Either way, I’m rolling with it.

I’ve decided that in my 30s, I’m going to risk it all.

And when I say “risk it all,” I don’t mean being reckless. I mean actually living my life to the fullest. I want to jump out of an airplane. I want to zipline. Ride a jet ski. Ski down a mountain. Travel. Try things that scare me. Experience things I’ve never experienced before.

But I also want to take risks when it comes to my dreams.

I want to put real energy into building my brand and creating something of my own.

After working in corporate America for seven years, I’ve realized how important it is to branch out and explore other career opportunities. I originally chose corporate because I wanted stability, structure, and predictability. I’m someone who likes knowing what to expect. Give me a process, a plan, and a little consistency, and I’m good.

Except…corporate America isn’t nearly as predictable as I thought it would be.

Things change. Leadership changes. Priorities change. Companies restructure. Expectations shift. And I get it because life changes too.

But that realization made me ask myself:

If corporate life isn't as predictable as I expected anyway, why am I so afraid of the unpredictability that comes with building something of my own?

If I’m going to experience uncertainty either way, I might as well take a chance on myself.

So maybe it’s time to jump into the chaos of building my own brand and business.

At the end of the day, I’ve realized that what I really want is autonomy over my time and energy. By the time I finish my 30s, I want to have built a solid business, a recognizable brand, and multiple streams of income.

Might as well go big.

I think your 20s are largely about learning who you are. You make mistakes. You change your mind. You learn what you like, what you don't like, what you'll tolerate, what you won't tolerate, and what actually matters to you.

But your 30s?

Your 30s feel like the time to apply what you've learned.

I know myself better now. I know that I enjoy structure, but I also crave spontaneity and unpredictability. I want security, but I don't want security so badly that I become afraid to actually live.

So, for me, living my life to the fullest means taking some risks. Trying new things. Betting on myself. And most importantly, stepping out on faith.

One final thing I’ve learned is especially important to me.

As someone who has struggled with depression and my mental health, I’ve realized how important it is to listen to myself and then actually follow through on what I know I need.

I can't control everything that happens around me. I can't control other people. But I can control myself, my decisions, and what I choose to do next.

That means taking accountability for my past mistakes without allowing those mistakes to define my future. It means taking the lessons I've learned and applying them to the way I live now.

I'm only three months into this decade, so obviously I don't have it all figured out.

But I don't think I'm supposed to.

I just know I want to leave my 30s knowing that I lived. That I tried. That I took chances. That I trusted God. That I built something meaningful. And that I didn't let fear convince me to settle for a life that felt safe but unfulfilling.

My 30s can only keep getting better and better.

So, to everybody else in their 30s: What's your mission for this decade?

And are you risking it all?
